You Don't Get The Wall Street Journal?
The Wall Street Journal Is Actually a Great Paper
I live in New York City and take the train to work. My entire commute is about 30 minutes door-to-door. I'm not complaining.
I was faced with a big decision. During my commute, do I read The NY Times or The Wall Street Journal? If I’m going to spend each morning pressed up against an array of random strangers; I might as well read something and enjoy myself.
I like the Journal. Here’s why:
• The front page summarizes all the important stories. Hey, I’ve only got 30 minutes.
• Tuesday is my favorite day. They have a section on small business & entrepreneurs.
• The Personal Journal section reviews a new business book each day. And there's always good articles that relate to personal finances, travel and health.
• You can learn something. If there’s an article about credit default swaps or collateralized mortgage obligations, they explain what the products are within the article.
• The Journal reports on all industries; not just Wall Street. Advertising, media, technology, real estate, law etc….
• At the very least, you’ll look important with that paper neatly folded under your arm.
When I’m in an airport, I read USA Today. When I’m shuffling off to work, it’s the Journal. Everyday.
