While these two schools of thought don’t have a lot of nice things to say about each other, they both have their merits. My short term weapon of choice relies on technical analysis with a touch of fundamental. My long term strategy is just the opposite. I define my short term trading as profits to be made within a month. I don’t day trade so I wouldn't qualify for TD Ameritrade’s volume discount plan. In my sections

Now, we profile trading strategies that are for lack of any better word, just “famous”. Technical analysis is the study of supply and demand. Based on the stock price history we plot on a chart, we hope to get a forecast of a trend. No need to whip out the financial statements. Technical traders believe everyone else has done the work for them. It’s the past buying and selling of the crowd that reveals what the future will hold. Our friends over in fundamental analysis believe the techies are nuts and the only thing that determines what a stock will do in the future is how financially adept a company is.
